Opening options were key in this kitchen dining extension

It’s always lovely to work with customers who are passionate about their gardens, not least because bi-folds allow all of the hard work to be enjoyed from both inside and out.
Avid gardener Phil Tomkinson has lived in his four-bedroom semi-detached home for over 35 years, over which time he has completely self-landscaped his garden, including the installation of a home-built decorative water feature. Now, after 21 years together, Phil and his long term partner Anita have decided to move in together, prompting the need to create more space and make the most of the beautifully tended garden.
Phil’s plans for the single storey kitchen and dining room extension involved installing five-panel bi-fold doors across the rear of the house, with a red brown finish on the exterior and white on the interior:
“The design was centred around bi-fold doors filling as much of the width of the extension as possible. The aim was to create extra space with maximum light and full visibility of and easy access to the garden; to almost bring the garden into the house.”
